President – Connor Coltharp

My name is Connor Coltharp, and I am a Senior here at Texas Tech. My major is Animal Science with an emphasis on Pre-PA. For the 2021-2022 academic year, I will be serving as the President of AMSA. A little bit of background about me, I grew up in a small town outside of Austin, Texas called Wimberley. In my free time, I enjoy being outside and doing things like fishing, hiking, and hunting. This year for AMSA, I would like to see communication between the executive board and the members increase and have as few issues as possible. We have great members that are all very smart and talented and are full of great ideas. Through strong communication, we can grow this club together and make it more enjoyable for everyone. Vice President – Jackson Driskill

Hey everyone! My name is Jackson Driskill and I am honored to be serving as TTU AMSA’s Vice President for the 21’-22’ academic year. I am a senior here at Tech from Hobbs, New Mexico and am majoring in Cell and Molecular Biology. I am also the President for Friendly Fridays and a member of President’s Select. In my free time I love to read and play music, whether it be guitar, bass, or drums. I serve as the connection between our executive board and general members and aim to facilitate improved communication between both parties. Our general members are smart and talented individuals who, ultimately, direct our growth as an organization. I hope to aid in making our club more enjoyable for everyone. Secretary – Whitney Tran

Hello fellow pre-health friends! My name is Whitney Tran and I am the Secretary. I am a senior pursuing a mathematics degree and I am on the pre-medical track. I’m an Austinite who loves reading fantasy books, watching anime, and playing RP games. I hope we all become closer as an organization and please feel free to come talk to me whenever you see me!


Treasurer – Christian Hernandez

Hey AMSA! My name is Christian Hernandez, and I’m the treasurer for this academic year. I’m from Austin, but this is my fourth year here in Lubbock. In my free time I enjoy running, music, and reading. With places opening up again, I’m hoping to get back into the swing of things rather quickly. I look forward to seeing you all at the general meetings, and maybe even on campus!


Public Relations Director – Garrett Wortham

Hey everyone! My name is Garrett Wortham, and I am the Public Relations Director for the 2021-2022 school year. I’m a Biology major from Fort Worth, Texas, and I plan on pursuing a career in medicine after undergrad. Some hobbies of mine include hiking, traveling, and just hanging out with friends and family. This year in AMSA, I hope to extend our outreach to as many students as possible. I also aim to help facilitate an engaging environment across all of our social media platforms. Healthcare Networking Director – Flavio Calderon

Hello AMSA family! My name is Flavio Calderon, and it’s a pleasure to be serving you all as the 2021-2022 Networking Director. I’m a Political Science major on the pre-med track from Dallas, Texas. In my spare time, I love working out, traveling, and spending time at home with my roommates. My goal with AMSA is to facilitate your pre-health journey through interactions with members, meetings with guest speakers, and other events we hold. As Networking Director, we’re looking for speakers that truly give the best insight into the plethora of medical career paths. If anyone has a suggestion for a speaker, feel free to reach out!


Community Service Director – Matt Ta

Whats up my peeps? My name is Matthew Ta, and I’ll be AMSA’s Community Service Director for the 2021-2022 year. I’m currently a Senior at Texas Tech majoring in Nutritional Sciences in hopes of becoming a Physicians Associate. I grew up in Manvel, Texas a city just south of Houston. In my free time I enjoy the outdoors, lifting weights, and playing video games. This year I would like to set up a household event for AMSA and try to get members to be more involved in the Lubbock community. I am looking forward to this upcoming year and can’t wait to represent AMSA by serving our community!


Social Director – Sydney Cooper

Hi, my name is Sydney Cooper I am a Junior majoring in Kinesiology on a Pre-Medicine track. I am the new Social Director in charge of the AMP program as well as in charge of hosting social events. As the social director for AMSA, I am hoping to create a welcoming atmosphere with diverse events to get everyone involved. My hometown is Poth, Texas. Very few people have heard of this small town that is an hour south of San Antonio. I grew up in a family of five. My hobbies include basketball, boxing, and hanging out with my family and friends. I am easy to talk to and if anyone ever has any questions, I will be happy to help.


Director of Advocacy – Joshua Duong

Hello! My name is Joshua Duong, and it’s an honor to be returning to serve as the Director of Advocacy for AMSA this year. I am a senior and a Biology major from Frisco, Texas, and I want to pursue a healthcare profession in the future. In my free time, I play tennis and volleyball competitively, and I go fishing to relax my mind. By the end of this year, I would like to have our AMSA chapter introduced to and deeply advocating for more campaigns than we already have. I believe that our ability to ally ourselves with certain projects in the health scene allows us to become more aware of the “real world” which can be a powerful tool in discussion towards our medical careers. 


Web Administrator – Theodore Sandhu

Hello everyone! My name is Theodore Sandhu and I am excited to serve as your Web Administrator for the 2021-2022 academic school year. I am a senior Microbiology major from El Paso, Texas with a desire to pursue a career in healthcare upon graduation. In my free time, I am an avid long-distance runner and an electric bassist in an informal band with my friends. I look forward to seeing what we can accomplish as one of the premier pre-health student organizations on campus!
