President – Chandler Culberth
Hi AMSA! My name is Chandler Culberth, and I am very excited to serve as AMSA President for the 2022-23 academic year. I am a senior biology major here at Texas Tech, and I am on the pre-PA track. In my free time, I enjoy working out and spending time with my family. I have also thoroughly enjoyed serving as a student research assistant with the TTU Institute for Studies in Pragmaticism since my freshman year at Tech. Additionally, AMSA has played an integral role in my undergraduate career, and I am eager for the organization to positively impact the lives of other pre-health students, similar to how it has impacted mine. I want to help facilitate member success in any way that I possibly can, and thus, I am always available, as a point of contact or reference for all AMSA members. I look forward to having a wonderful year and growing closer as an AMSA family!
Vice President – Ava Oliver
Hi everyone! My name is Ava Oliver and I am going into my senior year with a major in Biology and minors in Chemistry, Spanish, and Health Professions on the pre-med track. For the upcoming 2022-2023 academic year I will be serving as the Vice President for AMSA. I am also involved in the Center for the Integration of STEM Education and Research (CISER) scholar service organization, Mortar Board, and an ambassador for the College of Arts and Sciences. I hope to help find opportunities for pre-health students as I have found while in AMSA as well as improve communication. Outside school, I enjoy hiking, reading, researching, and practicing Spanish. Secretary – Kiara Garza
Hi everyone! My name is Kiara Garza and I’ll be serving as AMSA secretary for the 2022- 2023 academic year. I am currently a senior majoring in Senior Kinesiology with a minor in nutrition on the pre-PT track. Some of my hobbies include going on hikes, exercising, baseball, and music. An interesting fact about me is my favorite movie is Interstellar!
Treasurer – Melanie Johnson
Hi AMSA! My name is Melanie Johnson, and I am the treasurer for AMSA this year! I am currently a senior majoring in Biochemistry on the pre-medicine track. In my free time, I enjoy swimming, hanging out with friends, watching movies, going to Chili’s, and learning new things! Outside of AMSA, I am the current president of the Texas Tech Swim Club and have been swimming for over 10 years now! Another fun fact about me is that I grew up in Illinois and moved to the DFW area my senior year of high school. I’m excited to be the treasurer for AMSA this year and get to meet all the members that make AMSA such a great club!
Healthcare Networking Director – Ethan Lumongsud
Hey AMSA family! My name is Ethan Lumongsud and I will be serving as your Networking Director for the 2022-2023 school year. I am a senior Cell & Molecular Biology major, and I was born and raised right here in Lubbock. In my free time, I love playing basketball, working out, and traveling. A fun fact about me, my hair is naturally white, and it’s been that way since I was 19! My goal as Networking Director is to connect you with physicians and other healthcare professionals to guide you on your pre-health journey. We bring in a variety of speakers, from admissions committee members, medical school recruiters, and professionals from all aspects of healthcare to share their experience and advice on achieving your goal, whether it is medical, PA, nursing, or any other medical career. We are also open to suggestions for speakers, so if you know someone who would be willing to share their insights, don’t hesitate to reach out!
Public Relations Director – Connor Hicks
Welcome to AMSA! My name is Connor Hicks, and I will be serving as the Director of Public Relations for this school year. My responsibilities include showcasing the wonders of AMSA through our social media accounts and organization booths. Outside of AMSA, I am a Cell and Molecular Biology Major on the pre-med track. My hobbies include Brazilian Jui-Juisiti, running, and camping.
Community Service Director – Hanuk Kwon
Hi all, my name is Hanuk Kwon, and I am much pleased to be able to serve as your Community Service Director this year. Born in South Korea, I came to San Antonio, TX when I was 16 and came to Texas Tech in the Fall of 2020. I am majoring in Biochemistry and minoring in Biology, and I am entering my third year in Tech. I am on the pre-Medicine track and hope to be an oncologist one day. I want to extend your experience beyond the clinical or academic setting via volunteering so that you can enrich yourself with diverse aspects of our society, getting to know a diverse group of people who would be ultimately served by us, who will be future healthcare professionals. Hey everyone! My name is Aimee John and I will be serving as AMSA’s Social Director this year. I’m a junior, majoring in Microbiology. I’m from Dallas, Texas. In my free time, I enjoy reading, finding new food places with friends, binge watching shows. I’m excited to see y’all for the social events this year that my committee and I have planned. Director of Advocacy – Tanner Tayor
Hey guys! My name is Tanner Taylor, and it is an honor to be serving as the Director of Advocacy for the 2022-2023 year. I am a sophomore majoring in Microbiology on the Pre-Med track from Flower Mound, Texas. In my free time, I love playing soccer, working out, and volleyball. This year I am excited to continue to expand the Advocacy division and begin new campaigns to better Texas Tech and the Lubbock community. I believe that our division can work to give everyone a voice and platform to demonstrate their passion and love for healthcare
Web Administrator – Ashley Hartin
Hi AMSA! My name is Ashley Hartin and I’ll be serving as the Web Administrator this year! I am currently a senior majoring in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. I am also on the pre-med track. In my free time, I enjoy baking, watching crime shows, and playing with my two dogs (Daisy and Peanut). A fun fact about me is I have swum with dolphins!
