Join us for our first Tuesday Talk of the semester! We will host Josh Willms, a current MD/PhD candidate at the TTUHSC and the founder of Friendly Fridays. He will be speaking about his experiences and journey to med school as well as advice for students applying, matriculating, and surviving in med school. Please note that this event is in person and not on Zoom. This event will be worth 1 networking point. We hope to see you there!

Tyra-Lee Brett

For this week’s Tuesday Talk, AMSA national representative, Tyra-Lee Brett, will be joining us. She will be discussing ways to get connected with AMSA national, including publication opportunities and AMSA membership benefits for undergraduate students. She is a Biomedical Sciences major that attends Hillsborough Community college and is in the FUSE program to graduate from the University of South Florida. This is her 2nd year as a national leader, having previously served as the social media chair. The meeting will begin at 7 pm on Zoom and will last for about 30 minutes. This meeting will be worth 1 point. We hope to see you there!

Dr. Joseph Herbert

We will be hosting Dr. Joseph Herbert as a special guest speaker! Dr. Herbert is the Chief Resident of the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Missouri School of Medicine, and he will be presenting his talk, “The right stuff: getting into and through residency.” If you are interested in neurosurgery or want to hear about the journey of a physician who graduated from Texas Tech University, then please join us and welcome Dr. Herbert!

Dr. Imran Murtuza

He attended UT Southwestern for medical school and UTRGV for undergrad, and he will be sharing his journey to medicine and any advice for students looking to apply to medical school. Dr. Judianne Kellaway

Dr. Judianne Kellaway, MD, MEd, FACS is the associate Dean for Admissions & Outreach for UT San Antonio’s Long School of Medicine. Dr. Kellaway supervises the Ophthalmology Residents’ Clinic at the University Hospital and knows all about the medical school admissions process. She will be going over how to write a strong personal statement and how to develop a personal growth story. There will be time for Q&A so come with any questions you may have.
